Great Fabrics, its Vegetarian and Vegan, has appearance of leather but is not leather, with airtex holes for decoration. Use your imagination what you want to do with it, but read its limitations and benefits below.

Its Soft and Smooth to handle, Stretch and Resilient, Leather feel, but is of course its synthetic, it’s a Vegan alternative to Real Leather. Water Repellent and easy Maintenance.

Uses are multiple, from Crafts to Home Use, Apparel & Accessories. Great as Table Cloth, as its Wipe Able, Decoration and Light Upholstery where strength and wear is not important. Its great as a covering as the drape is good. The Fabric will shed water, but is not water proof! Its water resistant.

Not Suitable for Industrial and Domestic Upholstery where heavy duty performance and wear qualities are essential, for this use we are introducing another PU Fabric with fire retardant and wear properties etc!

Our Leatherette PU Eyelet Fabric is:
• Water Resistant (not waterproof) | 145cms wide
• 100% Polyester; with PU coating, we call it Semi-PU fabric as feel is PU (Rather then a PVC feel which is more synthetic and less soft! Most fabrics sold are PVC coated)
• PU coating produces a better finish, its more expensive, giving a supple feel
• End use for light upholstery (not industrial), domestic and crafts (satisfy your requirements for end use buy purchasing sample or fat quarter)

Definition of Leatherette and Water Resistant.
“Leatherette” is a type of synthetic leather, often by covering a fabric substrate with a soft PVC plastic layer. Among its main benefits compared to leather is that it is low cost and needs little maintenance. However, it is not porous and may burn more vigorously than leather.

In PU-coated leather, the coating is used to enable the leather to be resistant to water and scratches. The coating also helps the leather to be quick to dry, soft and durable whilst also allowing patterns to be embossed, if desired. PU-coated leather is commonly used for the upper for shoes and in upholstery.

“Water-resistant”: (Textiles) (esp of fabrics) designed to resist but not entirely prevent the penetration of water, water- resistant is NOT waterproof, which is entirely different!
